Last week we had about a 2" rain. The next day there were about 8 - 10 BG dead, floating around the bank.

Just about every day since then I have found 1 - 2 BG dead. One good sized one was out in the yard.

This morning there is a CC in about the 8-9 lb size that I found dead. I'm hoping that this is one that I hooked and lost about 10 days ago.

Any thoughts as to why the fish are dieing? We are supposed to hit 100�+ temps this week.

I have a pump sitting on the bottom of the pond in about 5' of water that is pumping water from the bottom up through this 'manifold'. I'm still working on the final design. The pipe is 1�" PVC with a slot cut the length of the pipe with a Skil saw.

A batch of deaths after a major, hot Summer rain event sounds like you may have had a turnover - colder, less oxygenated bottom water mixing with the better aerated surface water, resulting in lower than optimum O2 for the fish.

Any marks on the dead BG that you've been finding since then? I can't recall hearing of any delayed deaths from a turnover, but I may have missed that aspect.

Your bottom water pumped up to the top probably does not aerate as well as an air diffuser system would. If the pump will produce sufficent pressure, I bet you would be ahead to squirt the discharge out horizontally just under then surface, horizontally aerating the pond and rotating ALL the water in it up to the top regularly. I concur with Theo. When did you start the pump up?

I also wonder how cost effective and efficient you pump is vs. a compressor diffuser system. Please don't take offense but going on the cheap may have lost you some fish.
