I have about a 8 pound cc and watched him eat a long string of moss about 2 foot long. He just kept pulling on it and eating it. has anyone else noticed this before.

I have no idea, but maybe he needed some ruffage like when a dog eats grass, or like when we have a salad???
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

The CC is probably trying to forage on something that is living in the the FA. The last CC I cleaned out of our pond had a stomach full of FA too.
I also had a LMB last week that had some FA hanging out his back end, I assumed that the LMB had eaten the FA incidentally while foraging on small BG, the FA is very plentiful this year at our our pond.
