I could not stand it any longer, last weekend I drilled a couple of holes above the diffuser, started up aerator slowly, running 24/7 now. Water from snow melt flooded the pond and pushed the ice layer down. I now have 4 feet of water on top of 2 feet of ice with the fish below all that. :rolleyes:

Cool. This will work. I do the same thing in the spring. I always make sure however to smell the gases coming up the first time I start the aerator under the ice. If it smells at all like hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg) then I cycle the air for short periods to start with until the smell goes away.
