Pond Boss Forums INTRO Questions & Observations Share the (PB) Gift

I just renewed my PB subscription for 2 years. I also purchased my first "Gift Subscription" for a fellow Pond Owner here that I met last Fall who loves talking fish and pond management with me. Why? Because I have been blessed with the wisdom and experience of everyone else's learning curves all across the country, both on a professional level and from guys like me that pratice the "learning by doing method." I have talked to people from pond owners to feed producers that, though highly interested, had no idea that a publication like PB even existed!
So, I am giving the occassional gift subscription to local pond owners here in S Origun that show a real interest in what I am doing with my pond. It is my way of supporting PB and the PB community, while getting my local area pond owners on the same page as all of us. Plus, no matter what you believe, it is truly more a blessing to give than recieve.

DC, That is nice. I have done something like that. I have loaned my Raising Trophy Bass book to 3 different people. I've never gotten them back. OK, they're not expensive and, since I still occasionally refer to it, I just buy another one.

Also, 2 of them have subscribed to the Mag and continually thank me for the help I've given them. They keep calling and asking questions and I haven't asked about the loan of the books.

I am, however, a little chagrined about the matter.

I bought (and had Lusk & Otto sign) 2 copies of "Perfect Pond" at the conference - one for me, one for my excavator. But that's not being nice, that's self-interest.

Well, people will be people, true... Me? I never loan. It's less on my mind to give and simply go replace it. I find that with tools, books, DVD's and the like, they all fall into the ol' addage, "The Road to Hell is Paved Wih Good Intentions." I don't think they really even remember "borrowing" it, much less even think about bringing it back. And Theo? I have to admit... The guy I bought the subscription for? I got my CC from...

I've been giving out copies of mine to others in hopes I can get them to subscribe. I let a local agriculture teacher have ones of his choice to use in his fish and wildlife class. We all need to do our part and get more subscribers. I think it's a shame we have many more lurkers on this site that haven't subcribed yet.
