is it ok to have my pump about 200 feet from the pond and can i run the 200 feet with 1/2 inch pvc pipe.

Steve. you can easlily run 200 ft pvc from pump to your pond - the experts will advise on optimum aerator pump pressure.

They may advise larger diameter than 1/2 inch however.

I ran a common garded hose 250+ft with excellent results.

Just a word of my personal experience...based on expert advise, we ran an airline 600 feet from the compressor to the pond initially to a two diffuser set up. This year we added another line and diffuser to that existing line to supply aeration to another pond. Our system has worked great for four years, without a hitch.

The PVC pipe is more expensive than the plastic pipe but if you are anything like me and have equipment that transverses the lines, then it is much better to go with PVC. I used 3/4 inch PVC initially, but based upon Sue's advise the second line went in with 1 inch PVC to reduce resistance to air flow.

If you have a small (or large) tractor, you can attach a middle buster and dig the line in no time at all....covering it up takes more work than digging it. Aeration is great........wish I could get it to all my ponds.

1.) What type of compressor, hp, piston, rotary vane?

2.) How deep is the diffuser?

3.) What type of diffuser?

4.) Does the 200' include the tubing in the water? If not, what type of tubing and what is its diameter?

200' of 1/2" tubing only has a friction loss of 0.24 psi. The depth and type of compressor will be the only limiting factors.

Medowlark is right about the heavier walled pipe if you have equipment or vehicles traveling over it.
