I tore down an old gazeebo and was able to salvage some 8' pieces of lumber. I would like to use them for structure in my pond, but they all have been painted white in the past, which is now chipping off. My question is, is this wood safe to use with the white paint on it, or may it be toxic to the fish or water? thanks for the info!

If the paint is lead free which it probably is if bought and applied since '73/'74, I forget when the lead paint was removed from shelves, then your painted wood will not pose a significant health risk.
