Pond Boss Forums INTRO Questions & Observations Rotenone for Mudcat

Otto built a nice lake on our place last May. Since that time we have only had one significant rain that ran water, that occurred last August and we had 5 inches at one time. The pond is about 1/4 full at this point but does have Fatheads and BG. Last weekend I wondered up to a small pond just above my new one and noticed it was almost dry but had 22 dead mudcat floating in it. There is also one other small pond (maybe 1/4 acre) above my pond that is on my neighbors property. Mudcat must be the hardiest of all fish. I know for a fact that both of these ponds have been totally dry 3 or 4 times over the last 5 or 6 years. I feel like I should put rotenone in both ponds and I believe my neighbor will agree to let me. My question is this, there are alot of cattle on his place that water out of this pond. Will rotenone cause any problems with his cattle? Has anyone had any experience with this?

This is from the Texas Parks and Wildlife departments website. It says that it is fine for everthing except swine. Hope this helps you out.
