I write from the Michigan area. My question to the group is a simple one. When should I start up the aeration pumps and the bacteria treatments. We've had some really nice days now but the water still feels pretty cold. I also don't want to use up the costly bacteria if I'm not going to get any benefit. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Bacteria I can't advise. I am happy to refer you to some excellent advice on aeration startup from Bill Cody and Ted Lea. See When to Quit? which also discusses when to start back up
