I can purchase red ear for 50cents a piece. What I want to do is buy 50 of them and stock them in an emty pond hoping they will reproduce and then stock them in other ponds later, hopfully getting the most out of my money. The pond is 4 ft deep ,clear, and seems to be fertile and is maybe 1/3 acre in size. any help would be great.

4 feet may not be enough depth for overwintering RES in Kansas, as the head of the Eastern Nebraska Redear Appreciation Society may be intimating.
Barring that, I think it's a great idea. You'd only be out the price of 50 RES if it doesn't work. Plus Dr. Dave (and others, such as myself) would love to hear reports from a RES-only pond.
P.S. What size RES can you get for $.50?
