If I have plenty of seasoned limbs left over from my pond construction can I just make all of my cover out of them or should I also use some non-wood cover for my fish? I have limbs from tiny to 5 feet trunks at my disposal around the pond's perimeter. What would be the best configuration? Just lay the limbs in small piles at different depths or bind them together in some sort of clever configuration? Also, how much is too much?

Click on [search] in the upper right hand corner & pick this topic 'creating habitat' & then search for whatever kind of structure you are intrested in adding. MANY posts on this subject from which to learn.

Any structure that you add to your pond is good. Just keep in mind that you may want to fish this pond at some point. Also if you have any depth that is over 12 feet don't bother with that to much. If you have a pond that is 1 acre you could have 4-5 brush piles and I would think that would be a good start. Also remember that you may need to have these piles anchored to the bottom via cinder blocks, just to be sure they do not float up on you.
