My first time at this. I got the picture to ofoto, which surprised me. Then I pasted the url address (?) at the top, to the post. Instead of the actual picture being in the post, it came up as a link.
How does everyone get the picture to appear in the post?
Thanks

tom, Bruce explains it here: Bruce Condello Lunker Member # 1379
Member Rated: posted May 12, 2005 09:13 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Step 1: Create Photobucket account as previously described.
Step 2: Browse the Photobucket album that you have created of various downloaded photo files.
Step 3: Left click "Img" file name. This will highlight for you.
Step 4: Cut this file name by holding control (ctrl) button down and then simultaneously press "C". This is first step of classic "cut and paste" technique.
Step 5: Start your Pond Boss post. When you're ready to add photo, then press image bar next to instant graemlins. Now press control (ctrl) button and simultaneously press "V" button. This is second step in "cut and paste" technique.
Step 6: Make sure that the http/ prefix has not been duplicated. Your post on "Post a Reply" will not look like a picture to you. Only after post is completed will the image automatically appear on the post.
Try it. It's not as daunting as it seems. It goes quicker every time. Here's the link to the thread: http://www.pondboss.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=20;t=001628#000005

You can also click "preview post" before adding reply to see if it worked.

Tom,
It may be my lack of savy on pictures, but I have followed Ric and Bruce's methods with success at first then after installing a firewall had a lot of problems. I'm sure its my own lack of pc knowledge but I found that using some software to resize the pictures before uploading helped...don't see what if anything that would have to do with the firewall, but have been able to post/upload since including that step to resize first. Maybe it would help you or maybe it has nothing to do with your problem. Just helped me to resize first. Thanks.

Tom,
Hang in there! I can finally do it now without my wife's help. If I can do it anyone can!

Now I really feel like an idiot
I did the first step of the "cut and paste"
Then I looked for the "image bar" next to the instant graemlins, but I don't see anything like that. So when I did the second step and pasted, I still get only a link on the preview window and no picture.
Am I just too old for this stuff?

Tom please don't feel that way . I still post pictues that either don't show up the first time, or if they do then they take up the whole page. As Cecil stated above just "hang in there". The "image bar" you are looking for is in a gray box beside the graemlins (second column bottom box). Once you have "copied" your link to the pic just click on that gray "image" box. A new box will appear in the upper left hand corner of your screen. Paste the link into that box and click on the "ok" tab. Then preview your post. You'll get it done, no worries! edit: make sure that you are actually viewing your picture and not your whole file (on photobucket or geocities) when you copy the URL. I upload the picture, then go to file manager, then go to "view picture", and then I highlight the URL at the top of the page (just click on it). I then pull down my edit tab and click on copy. Next you will return to your post on this forum, type in your message, click on the "image" tab below you, and the new box will pop up in the upper left hand corner. Pull down your edit tab again and "paste" the URL into the new box. Hit "ok" and poof, there it is!

Thanks Debra,
I'm not giving up...now it's a challenge. Besides, the weather is lousy here with tornado warnings this afternoon.
Happy New Year!

I am with you on that one (the weather). Just out of curiosity what part of North Florida are you in. You can email me if you don't want to post. I am at home today (office closed) in Tifton, so I can certainly relate to your weather issues. We are only 62 miles above the Florida line and our weather today is wicked. Happy New Year to you also (ugly day to start it off though). Deb

I'm about 20 miles south of Thomasville, Ga, just a few miles south of the ga-fl line.
By the way, the reason I didn't see the image bar was because I was looking at the "quick reply" form instead of the "full reply form"...now I see what your talking about.
Thanks

WRT picture size, some helpful soul here advised me that the magic size is 640x480 pixels. That actually is a little smaller than screen size on my monitor, but I try to hold them to a max of 720 wide. You do need a photo editting capability of some kind to crop and/or rescale the pictures. I use "The GIMP" which is available for free download at gimp.org

Hey Tom I guess we are neighbors. I take 319 through Thomasville twice a year on my way to vacation on St. George Island. Good luck with the photo support group. Theo: Thanks for the link. I have been moving photos around to different programs to get them to fit. I like the term "The Gimp". With everyone changing their signatures around here, maybe someone out to sign off with that one.

I'm not an idiot, just slow!
These are not very good pics, but at least I got them to post.

Now I'll have to work on that pixel thing.

No don't go fishing. You might get struck right now. The pics worked! Great job and a beautiful pond by the way. It looks very serene (nice aerator too).

Am I just too old for this stuff? If you had any idea how long it took me to do this on my own you'd feel like a genius. I'm one of those guys that screws things up that are supposed to be idiot proof! Actually I think the problem is I know the wife can do it so I usually just let her do it. Seriously you are not too old. My dad who is 70 just eats this stuff up! You're probably afraid of feeling dumb so you get a mental block.

Cecil,
Thanks, I don't know how I managed it, but you learn to appreciate the small victories along the way.
By the way, "How to make a small fortune in aquaculture -- spend a large fortune.", reminds me of my days back in the early 80's when I decided to be a polled hereford breeder...if only I had put that money into beach property.
Regards, Tom Parker

Cody you must have ticked off Lusk and he is denying you the pics. Actually you might have to adjust some settings under tools and then internet options. Either that or your firewall is preventing them. Try disabling your security settings for about five minutes to see if it makes a difference.

No pics. here either Bill. Not a firewall or settings problem. This is same thing that happened with ML's pics.

At work, I see the red X boxes like Bill Cody.
At home, I didn't even see those.
It just gets curiouser and curiouser.

I am at work now, and I get the little boxes like you all do. Guess my home computer has something special in it. Tom try posting the pics as a link instead of an image. Use the URL button below instead of the image button. Your pond is really beautiful, and I hate the guys here can't see it. Deb

Debra, you act like I'm a 13 year old computer geek to switch gears like that from images to urls, next it will be urls to brumbees.
So, I think this need's to be done right, so I'm going to repost this thing as images (if I can remember what I did the last time):
First pic:....I sure wish these had been better since they are getting so much press..

2nd pic:

Okay, I got both pics on the preview, so we'll see what happens with the actual post.
