I've recently notice a few fish (mosquitofish, few bass) with small (1/8 inch diameter) white growths at the base of their tail fins. Is this anything to worry about?

If it is limited to the base of their tail fins I wouldn't worry about it. Probably will go away.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

It doesnt seem to be affecting them too much... they still act normally, but it slows their swimming down quite a bit. I dont think it is something to worry about, but would like to have some idea what it is. I also wondered if anyone else noticed anything similar.
