Just found this forum and Pond Boss. Neat! Asked for a trial issue to check it out. Just put a contract on some property in Alabama with a 6 acre lake and have lots to learn and am eager to start.
Seeing if this post will "go through".
Previous owner said there were multiple springs in the shallower regions of the lake and that it was 17 ft at the damn. He also said that during the deep drought 4 or 5 years ago it was down 2 ft while many other small ponds/lakes were down drastically. I can't ask further questions because he died after i met him once.
Is there anyway to locate these springs and find out more info on them. Maybe I should get my diving certification and have some fun.

Welcome aboard to another fellow Alabamian. I am in Morgan county although my pond is only a little over 1/3 acre we still have fun with it. Take care and get the magazine you will love the information in it just wish it was monthly!

Bob,
I see you're over there just south of decatur. I'm east of Oxford/Anniston. Probabably should have just gone on and subscribed to the magazine. Might do that and give the trial issue to a buddy.
Thanks for the welcome.

I think going the SCUBA route would be awesome not only to find your springs (possibly indicated by VERY clear water seeping in) but also to speer fish for those huge "non-biters", if they exist. All part of pond management in my mind. (-:

Pretty land and pond Bob. Looked over your homepage. Good work and nice documentation. Makes all he difference in the world having some water doesn't it?
They shut Fort McLellan down didn't they? I know they are burning some of the old chemical weapons (from the cold war?)SE of Oxford/Anniston. Causing quite a stir over there. I checked it out thoroughly and came away believing everything was more or less under control.

Double Camp,
Yeah, that stuff kinda crossed my mind. Would be pretty damn cool to cruise around down there. Especially if the lake is spring fed and clear enough to be able to see well.
It appears clear and a pretty blue but this is from a minimal ammount of real "contact". Haven't even taken a boat out on the lake as of yet. Noticed from reading some posts on the forum how much importance is placed on pond clarity. Did not realize it was so important from a health standpoint. Always kinda figured folks just wanted them pretty that way.

Hey Lloydian if you click on the little note pad above you second post you can delete it. If you don't wait long enough and then hit the back button you browser will say "Repost from data" if you click yes then you get a double post! It took me a few before someone let me in on the secret. From what I understand Ft. Mac is now a National Security Training Center. I guess for the new Department of Homeland Security. I got to go into the CDTF and watch the nerve gas kill the cockroaches when I was there sure makes you feel better about the suits and gas masks.

Bob,
I see that u are member 76 and that I'm 1255. I am assuming that Pond Boss and this forum have not been around for years and years? You are one of the veterans however.
"watch the nerve gas kill the cockroaches when I was there sure makes you feel better about the suits and gas masks."

Not sure how long it has been around, they changed the format in early April 2002 and if I remember correctly we all had to re-register.
