Pond Boss Forums INTRO Questions & Observations finally my first fish

after 4 or so years of cutting trees, digging stumps, digging a hole, leveling dirt , planting grass, stocking fish, ( sore back ) i went fishing sunday and caught 4 channel cats bout 10 " and one stripper bout 6 " , was a great feeling , just had to share that with fellow ponders. all the work was worth it.

Ken, does your wife know you cought a stipper?

Striper. As in striped bass. More likely it was hybrid striper, the cross between a white bass and a pure-strain striped bass. Often called "wiper."

By any name, it's one of my favorite freshwater species and huge fun to catch on light tackle. 'Grats on your new fishery.

4 years??????? What the heck kept you from wetting a hook for so long? I realize that being in FL makes my pond 'mature' faster but does it really take 4 years of work to be able to fish? If you did wait 4 years I bet thats the prettiest damn pond in Ohio.
