Don't know if anyone answered you on this one, or not.
You haven't supplied enough information to give a good answer. If your pond covers 10 acres, and you want to make it two feet deeper, the cost will be different than if the pond is half an acre.
More info?

Sounds like you need to remove 2,000 to 2,500 cubic yards of soil to go down two feet, and add an eighth of an acre. Earthmoving costs range from $1 to $1.50 per cubic yard, depending where you are, and what the market bears there.
Another option is to go up. If you can raise the dam, your costs will be considerably less. The site dictates that possibility.

I had my .62 acre warm water pond dug out as far as a massive back hoe would go, and had the banks steepened. Although I had other ponds dug etc. at the same time I believe the cost for the "dipping" was $1000.00. It really helped remove cat tails and prevent their return somewhat that were taking over the pond too.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Helpmypond,
Depending where at in Illinois you are, I may know of some good excavators in your area that could give you a quote.
