My pond went from clear water (to 2ft) to complete algae overnight after a hard rain!

Is this normal?

What can be done to prevent this?

What options to reduce this (without adding carp)?

The carp will not eat that mess. Best fish to use for that surface stuff is tilapia. Add in enough and they will eat all of it, and turn a lot of it to fish manure to probably feed a plankton bloom similar to the algae bloom in the current Capital reflecting pool algae bloom.

Ok, so I have fished most of the algae mats out and now have a light "film" of something over most of the pond. Rakes and nets are not removing it but it does interfere with lures when I try to fish (or practice fishing).

What is it and how can I adjust pond the pond to correct? Currently the only aeration I have is rain, runoff and a spring. No electricity close so any mechanical assistance would have to be wind or solar powered.

We have run black poly tubing over 1/2 mile to a pond to get aeration in it from where electricity was.
