I noticed this in a few of my YOY LMB that I caught yesterday.
What is this and what should I do about it.

Thanks ewest, unfortunately it looks like most of those that are referenced do not exist.

Articles that referred to "red bumps" or what I thought would be related were no longer available.




Not trying to be a smart A$$ but after about the 8th link and reading the ones that refer to red bumps on fins I gave up.

Is there a short answer?

Do you have a clear pic? They look like flukes or anchor worms and not red sore disease.

Thanks for the information, I looked them up and I believe it is anchor worms.

From what I see medicated parasite treatments (like organophosphates or diflubenzuron), and preventive measures such as quarantining new fish and maintaining good water quality are recommended treatments. I did just stock 10 TGC 2 weeks ago but don't think that would be the cause.

I'm going to pull a water sample. Secchi disk clarity is almost 7 feet right now. Water temp dropped to 50 and then went back up to 60 within a week. We're getting cold now so it will be dropping from here for a while.

I am NOT an expert on fish health problems.

However, opportunistic infections and opportunistic parasites certainly do better when the host is facing stress conditions.

Hopefully your problem will recede a little bit as your fish fully transition to "winter mode". (But don't take that sentence to mean you should quit fighting the little bastards!)
