Hello!

I am looking but have not found where anyone has discussed managing spillway height when factoring in dam settling.

I will be installing a bottom draw siphon spillway on my 5 acre lake where the primary water level will be determined by the siphon height. Say my 20 ft dam is going to settle 2 feet (90% compaction), will the height of my siphon:

A: Lower with the overall dam
B: Hold elevation; raising its relative position in the dam
C: Crack due to strain and/or cause dam failure

I am not an expert but the horizontal pipe does control your pond level. The air break is for when it goes in turbo mode. I may be wrong, but that is the way I see it working.

61 acre water shed lake. bass, channel cat, black crappie, wiper, walleye, redear sunfish, blue catfish and bluegill. To many bullhead and common carp

I believe nehunter is correct. My prior comment above was incorrect and only referred to an operating siphon. Typical siphon systems operate effectively as a pond outlet - even before they go into siphon mode.
