Is there an easy, quick way to make a small, artificial ramp like spot in a pond? It's just to see if bass will congregate on it in late winter/spring. Thought about just lining up and placing several, 2 or 3 wide, bags of quikcrete. I wasn't sure how well that would work, or how long it would take for the bags to deteriorate.

Whole bags of Quikrete last quite a long time. We have several culverts where we lined the approaches with Quikrete bags 10 years ago; a small % of bags have cracked, but not displaced, since then.

NOTE: You want to get the smallest size of Quikrete bags you can, unless you enjoy schlepping 80 lbs around.

The actual bag that the mix comes in, how long until it deteriorates? I want it gone.

That depends on exposure. Sitting out in the open, they can last a couple years. But after the Quikrete cures, you could peel off the bag pieces that are in the open if you wanted to.

The bag itself would probably deteriorate reasonably quickly but they all have a plastic liner to deter moisture that would last a while and you probably wouldn't want it to contaminate your BOW.
I just dumped a load of 3" rock at the edge of the water and spread it down into the water for a ways and works pretty good for a boat ramp.
Have done it on a couple ponds already. works best if you do it before the pond is full but can be done afterwards with a mini excavator to add it on further out into the water.

Do you want an actual boat ramp, or are you just looking to attract fish?

I was never clear on what Shooter really wanted here.

Upon first reading, I thought Shooter liked how the underwater concrete slope of a boat ramp attracted fish during the winter. After introducing the idea of bags of quick-crete, I lost it.

I want an underwater hard ramp like spot that holds fish like some boat ramps do in lakes. Just to try. Wanted an wasy/quick way to do it. If there's a better way, I'm all ears.

So, a few things that may be happening at existing boat ramps in lakes during the winter:
1) There is a hard, defined slope from inches of water to feet of water; this area may 'warm-up' a bit quicker than other areas of the lake.
2) There's no weed growth over these ramps, thus allowing fish to suspend without interference from weeds and plants.
3) There may be a clarity and/or contrast due to the hard surface of the boat ramp that allows you to see fish more easily.

The plastic liner must be new, as I've never seen that in 3 pallets of Quikrete.

I don't think it will take long for the paper bags to go away. But, I'm not sure a bag of quikrete will cure properly being submerged in water. May just crumble into expensive gravel? I'd be curious. Maybe you can do a test bag and let us know the outcome?

In my experience, quick-crete (sp?) eventually crumbles into gravel, always.

I'd have to say the same.. I've tried many projects around the pond with it, just doesn't hold together. Works ok to tamp in around a post but that's about it.
