My new 1 acre lake filled up a year ago and for the last few months I've noticed weeds starting to grow in the shallow water along the bank. They look like white noodles and only grow an inch or two above the surface with no leaves. What are they and are they a problem?

A picture is worth a thousand words. Any chance you could snap a couple of close ups? Perhaps, also snip one below water level and show most of the plant to the PB experts. I doubt an East Texas plant will be a stumper to the experts.
