So i took the plunge and cleared my 3 acre pond all by myself this weekend. It was a LOT of work, but it seems to have worked, I haven't seen any dead fish so far, and I caught more bass the next day than i have all year.
Now, I have a 250 gallon tank that i used to apply the alum and lime and because i alternated applying some alum then some lime repeatedly, i have a sludge of alum+lime in the tank. Is there any way to get that out? Just running water over it does not seem to do much.
Second, how long until i can be sure i didn't mess this up? Water was much more clear the next day and i didn't see any floaters. Would a fish kill happen right away?

Did you use hydrated lime with the alum?

Only thing I know of is dig it out with a flat shovel. The mixing of hydrated lime is not needed in these applications.. shoot the Alum, then pour Hydrated lime right into pond out of bag over side of boat.
You need to be well covered (arms, eyes,head, face etc,) while cleaning this up.
