we are constructing a new pond and are planning to seal with sodium bentonite. soil is mostly clay with some rocky, gravel areas mixed in. I am curious of the success anyone has had with this product and if they know of any suppliers in Washinton State.

I would also add if you have enough good clay to cover the bottom that is the way to go. The only time I would use bentonite is if I had a leak and was trying to fix it. If you have to use it becareful and use some kind of mask, bentonite contains silica.

thanks so much for the info. We may have to go with the clay. I have some calls in to some quarrys here locally to see if they owuld like to get rid of some clay.

Unless I was pretty sure that it would leak through the rocks and/or gravel, I would let it fill and see what happens. If you're not sure it's broke, I wouldn't try to fix it (yet).

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
