For those of you with GSHs do you see them regularly swimming around in your pond, or when feeding? I stocked 13 lbs of them last year in my 1/8 acre pond and rarely see any of them. I occasionally see a few in the shallows at night but that's about it. The bottom of my pond is covered about 90% in pond weed, are they likely just hiding down in the weeds? I'm just wondering if my predators have largely eliminated them or if they've just become very good at hiding.

The GSH in my pond come out when I feed, and I catch a few small ones in the torpedo trap when I put it in. Other than that I don't see much of them.
The heron doesn't seem to have any trouble finding them. I've found a couple 8" size GSH dead with stab wounds this spring.

In my 1/4 acre neighbor hood pond, we used to see large GSH (6-8") hitting feed.
Haven't seen them lately and I think it's because the other predator fish (LMB, SMB, HSB, CC, and maybe YP) got large enough to eat those larger GHS.
They hit the feed very differently than bluegill or bass, so they were pretty easy to identify.
