i am curious as to how much gypsum is used in the "pond" owners world and what size is best? i own a gypsum mine and would be interested in new markets plus make buying gypsum better if possible.

Hi Steve well I can tell you in North Alabama it is impossible to find powdered gypsum, what I am looking for is a consistancy like white flour. You didn't mention your location but we could sure use a distributor in this area.

Bob, does the time of year or water temp. determine when Gypsum can be added to the pond . i have found it powderd at Home Depot in 40lb bags.

Landscaping companies often have gypsum decorator rocks which are like large chat(gravel).They are approx 2" in diameter. I paid around $130-150 for a dump truck load although that was 10 years ago or more. Place them on a shore where prevailing winds create wave action. They last for years and years. There is a lot of dust formed by the rocks grinding on each other when the load is first brought in. This provides a rapid infusion of calcium ions to precipitate the suspended clay. Wave action constantly leaches small amounts from the rocks providing ongoing tubulence control. Once some clarity is achieved, aquatic plants beging to grow and further limit clay turbulence from wave action. And the rocks aid in erosion control on the shore.
