Buddy went up to check on our place a week ago and there were some big changes. The data was great 7.15PPM of DO and 65 degree water. Better than we've ever seen at this time of year BUT he said the water was clearer than he had EVER seen it. He said he was watching schools of minnows swim along the bottom in 4' of water. That really had me scratching my head because I have never seen the lake like that in almost 15 years I've been going up there. Granted we have been changing a lot.

Then he went up yesterday, one week later, and took this photo. He said it is everywhere in the water. He said "it appears to be some kind of plant fiber". Anyone know what the heck this is?? This feels like a bad thing....

The pics aren't very good. Unfortunately, he's not versed on the Cody method of weed photography!

Blue Green Algae!! Nooooooooo!!

I hope this is not going to be a reoccurring thing! Maybe if I lower water temp via aeration it will go away??

What ever it really is...I have never heard of a pond that was in constant scary heavy algae bloom. It will go away.

If it is Aphanizomenon from page 6...it states..."The blooms found in North America appear so far to be nontoxic."

I read up on it and it sounds like it COULD become a problem. Interesting to see the lake doing all kinds of new never before seen things.
