I have scraped out my pond twice in the last 25yrs.The reason I scraped out the pond was because of build up of sludge on the bottom.As you know this sludge can cause algie,weed and clarity problems.I need to do it again but it is such a large job,also the mess and loss of fish.My question;does adding bactria to the pond really work,it sure would be a easer way.thanks...jimmy

Hi Jimmy -
If you install a bottom aeration system, aerobic bacteria will naturally occur and consume the muck on the bottom of your pond. The build up occurred due to a lack of O2 in the first place. An effective aeration system brings oxygen into the water, eliminates stratification and increases circulation. This makes the water at all levels able to support animal and plant life, control algae growth by limiting its food source, and aid decomposition of suspended organic material and muck on the bottom of the lake. Installing an aeration system is very easy and it will make your fish very happy!!
