Also everyone might watch out for pelicans. We recently had approximately a hundred on one of our ponds.

Never even seen one in my area.

Zep I've seen many cormorants flying over the pond, approaching up to 6/7 yards to the water, turn back and fly away.
But my pond is far from where I live so I'm not there often.
A friend of mine has his koi 0.2 ac pond in the backyard and he has seen a couple times cormorants trying to land hitting the lines and flying away. Maybe 'cause he used a thinner monofilament, I don't know.

Would you think mono-filament line or braided line would be best?

Oh boy a hundred fully protected pelicans at your pond!

I think Tbar had them at his too.

Zep I think a clear monofilament would be the best choice.
It s cheaper than braided and I don�t know how braided reacts exposed continuosly to sun, rain and temperatures below zero.

Beautiful! I love pelicans. - I love pelicans in OTHER peoples ponds. Haven't seen any here yet, but they are in the area.

I've watched them feed in Lake Houston. They are amazingly efficient predators.

Just passing through migrating? I do know of a place in Canada they pass through in the North of Ontario.

Yeah they are just passing through. Have had some in the past years but never this many.

Posting this pic for DD1. If you look close, there's about a zillion cormorants on this pond.

Dang and I was worried about a few!

I have to wonder what a visit like that does to a pond. I imagine those birds are hungry when they arrive and need to fuel up before going further. Even a few hours must be devastating.

Mother nature has a way of knowing, maybe the pond needs some culling. If not, hopefully they are just thirsty.

They get a good treatment of lead when I see them on my pond. Had 5 on the pond today. 1.5 acre. 4 left, 1 floated.

Brian, I had mentioned those look my way dancers on the forum awhile back but I never purchased one. I believe it would work even for gbh at feed times. Did you purchase one and try it?
