Good fish! I stocked four inch CCs last April, fed them various pellets, mostly Optimal small size, and they are running about sixteen inches long and large. I haven't tried to catch any yet and I am wondering if they'll bite anything other than a dough bait made with their feed. Now that they're back up on the surface, it seems they prefer larger pellets of Game Fish feed. I've seen no evidence of them chasing anything alive. Put in three pounds of Fatheads a few days ago, the bass are going crazy, but no scenes of CCs or Hybrid Blues chasing them. Cut back on the pellets?
I caught and ate thirty of my CC last year on pieces of hot dog on a single #1 hook. They ranged from two to five pounds. Otters got the rest of them this past winter. The CC were about two years old.
