Pond Boss Forums GENERAL QUESTIONS Muddy water Puzzling question ?

I recently had 3 ponds (4,2, and 1 acre) built
within a near proximity of each other. A 5"
weekend rain brought water accumulations to
each pond. The water that accumulated below the dam on the larger pond is crystal clear while
the other two ponds have very muddy water. The
soil conditions are essentialy the same for all
3 ponds - a mixture of blackland and yellow clay
called gumbo soil here. Even the accumulations
in low areas away from the dam area that are
within the muddy ponds are clear. Water sheds
type for the ponds are the same - heavy rolling
grassland. What can be causing the muddy conditions in the smaller ponds ?

Its hard to guess with the limited knowledge given, but here goes a few. The amount and type of vegetation in each pond could be an influence. The amount of runoff in each pond could be different. Which of the ponds are the oldest, and what is the age difference? The oldest could have a better environment for water clearing conditions.
