Pond Boss Forums POND CONSTRUCTION Soil questions Coastal Bermuda in the Fall

If I'm lucky, I'll be digging my pond in the next couple of months. It is in a coastal field, and the NRCS agent thought spreading the topsoil back out with the coastal sprigs in it would re-grass itself easily with no worries. I saw this myself when we started digging last spring, and had to backfill. In a couple of months you couldn't even tell where we scratched the ground. My coastal will not be growing again until next Spring/Summer when it warms up. You know the 140 rule? When the daytime high plus nightime low add up to 140, the bermuda grass grows. Well, we're at about 150 now, and dropping fast. What suggestions does anyone have for stabilizing the slopes over the winter? Rye grass seed?
