You can buy alum in Sulphur. The guy advertises on craigslist sometimes. He sells in bulk for cheap.

Canyon, dry Aluminum Sulfate AlSO4 formula) is listed as a USDOT/EPA unregulated,non-hazardous material in any quantity. It's not something you'd want to snack on, or get in your eyes, but is considered a GSC (Generally Safe Chemical)...What did you consider hazardous about it?

Aluminum Sulfate Hydroxide and Aluminum Sulfate Anhydrous which are often listed as "Dry Alum", are different formulas and ARE USDOT/EPA/OSHA regulated. The product listed in the OP is Aluminum Sulfate Hydroxide...Al2(SO4)3 14H2O

Just more FYI, only quantities in excess of 8700 pounds in a single container are shipping regualted...
