I just over the weekend set out my floating island and threw a host of different seeds on it to see if anythng would grow on it. It looks like I will have to continue applications all year with the cutrine plus to keep the scum off of the surface of the pond....My question is... will cutrine plus harm what ever type plant growth I get on the island since hopefully the roots will extend to the water?

Good question. No idea here - I'm just starting to worry about FA control for some friends with a scummy pond.

I've never had any trouble with cutrine killing any grass around my pond that was in direct contact with the water, so I don't believe it will harm higher plant species. I'm not sure if it will effect germination of seeds though. FA is pretty bad at my place right now and will probably still be too cold(<60deg)to make an application for another month. Maybe your seeds will germinate by then?

Boy! The scum seems to have started early this year, so far so good, No Dw or WM I dont even want to spell out those evil words, just lost of oily looking surface with scum with floating algae of some sorts, looks jelly like. Cutrine plus seems to control it but I think I am going to have to apply once a month or sooner, a little seems to go along way or atleast I only use a little per gallon sprayer. not sure how to read the formula correctly

No problem with the Cutrine Plus killing those plants with the roots in the water. It will be diluted out to the point where it wont harm these. If you were to spray this directly on the exposed plants on the island you may burn them back. You should not have any problem with just copper in the water column though.

Good info. I to am in south western Ohio and I think the FA is bad, but because I'm a rookie I don't know what bad is?
Will the curtine plus harm or retard the zooplanton and other photoplanton that the little fishies need to feed the big fishies?
Thanks a million for the information.

Ron,
Don't think it will harm the pond habitat. Be careful to follow the directions exactly and do not treat the whole pond at once. Take your time!
Good luck.
