What is the best liner to use for under the beach area and for under rock around pond border?

Anyone have any suggestions?
What brand did you use and are you happy with it?

I used old carpet. It's usually free, it's tougher than most liners, and it won't be seen covered with sand and rock. Some of mine wasn't even covered, and is not visible at all now under the water after being covered for 10 months. It's covered with silt and plankton growth. It holds plankton growth very well. I think it's a fine re-purpose of something that usually ends up in a landfill. If it's a bright color as some of mine was, turn it upside down. It's not hard on feet either.

yes, carpet has advantages, might be free on Craigslist if you offer to help haul out of house and haul away.

This weekend I noticed my in laws' pool solar cover (20x40') was failing, needed to be replaced. That might be another good thing to put down and put dirt over it. Won't hold up quite as good as a tarp or carpet but a good way to keep it out of the landfill.

A wanted ad on CL for an old pool cover (the heavy duty kind for inground pools in winter), an old solar cover, or old carpet should score something.

Areas with a lot of rentals are constantly changing out carpet. Talk to a carpet store that does installs and haul-offs. Bet most would like to avoid the haul-off. My old carpet came out of our house and a relative's house who was stripping it out at the same time.
