I had intended on starting this project a few years ago but things came up that required my toy money. I now have a little toy money.

Here is what I started with.

That muck turned out to be ~4' deep.

And this is what I have now, clay that is like talcum powder when dry. About 100'X 70' X 10'

I am going to run power to the dam so I can run aeration.

With this summer looking very dry, I am not planning on doing anything till early next spring and even then it might not be full, but that wouldn't be a bad thing. Eel grass, daphnia and scud to start. Then Spotfin shiners and papershell crayfish and maybe some lake chubsuckers if I can find a source as Jonah's doesn't show them anymore.

I sent a soil sample to Cooperative Extension to get a recommendation for soil amendments.

Has anyone located a new source for PK shrimp? I would be willing to pay much more than Fattig's price to have these in my forage pond.

The dirt that looks wet in the last picture is actually wet even in the ridiculously dry summer we have been having. I am blessed with many springs. There is currently a little puddle that may be about 4" deep right now that 1 bullfrog is calling home.

Been busy with work (working OT to pay for my ponds). Sorry I missed the requests for info. I emailed Zimmerman's and Brian replied that he hoped to have some this year. I will keep you updated.

Pond at full pool.

Some PK shrimp from LA. Hopefully they take hold.
