I fish this one lake by my house a lot. It has tons of milfoil which I know is good for bass to seek cover in, and to feed out of.
In a smaller pond though, would having to much milfoil be bad, or "a okay?"

I would like to have milfoil or at least a couple lilly pads in the shallows, but I know that lilly pads can get out of control pretty quick.
In ya'lls (I was born and raised in N.E. texas) expierences, is it just better to make the underwater cover and not let plants grow in the pond, or definitely have some, just watch growth?

One of the problems of milfoil is that bass can have a tough time feeding in it. The forage hides there too.

Some plant life is a good idea. However, you have to be able to control it and I'm not sure how you can assure that. I think of pond plant life like I do kittens. They grow up to be cats.

lol! Yeah I dislike cats too.

So which plants should I plant then?

I think that's probably related mostly to climate zones. I would probably see if the City of Tulsa has any kind of water garden and ask their experts.

I just thought of this...I could ask the zoo too.

(p.s. I know about climate zones for regular planting, I have been doing outdoor stuff with my dad since I was little, I just though water plants would be vastly different)

BD Do a search for information about water lilies on the forum. Hybrid water lilies will be easier to control than milfoil, coontil and many other submerged vegetation. Cultivated lilies especially smaller spread types are key features for easier control.

There are several native species of Milfoil and a species of Eurasian Milfoil (European exotic). E.Milfoil is spreads faster and is more problematic then the North Ameriacn native speices.
