Hi all! I have this prooject: there is a quarry, is about 600 M2, average depth of 7 mts, there are zones og 6 mts and deep zones of 12 mts (40 feets) starting at 24 feets ther e is a thermocline, with the classic sulphur smell. I want to aereate this zone.
Can you help me giving advice about wich kind of air pump do I need? wich amount of air flow do I need? pressure the pump has to have to be able to pump deep into the water (I neeed to pump air at 40 feets?) I have electricity on site.
A vacuum pump would be usefull? What kind of vacuum pump would I need (power)?
Since air pumps here are not something easy to find, at least pumps designed for pond aereation, I would like to know if I can find some substitute like vacuum pumps or something similar I can use for the task.
All advices to design an aereation system for this site will be preciate it. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum. You need a pump that will provide enough volume and air pressure. Air pressure needed to overcome the back pressure is 0.5 psi for every foot of water depth. So, for your 40 foot depth, you will need a pump that can produce air at 20 psi.

As for how much air, that is a bit more complicated. Basically you need enough diffusers (I like rubber membrane diffusers) that will move the entire water volume in the pond to the surface at least once per day for the length of time you are planning on running the system.

Here is a chart from Vertex on their diffuser water movement rates. Not all diffusers are the same, so diffusers made by another company might not move the same amount of water.
