Well i need to unleash some frustration. This past summer i saved my money and purchased a vertex airator. Ran it a month or so and then once water started cooling down i decided to stop running it. Well today is nearly 70 degrees and i decided to walk out to pond wishing my fish were big enough to catch. It was crazy i was walking the edge of my pond trying to see some of my little fish and saw this white thing in the water. Caught me off gaurd as i was concentrating on looking for fish then it hit me. Its my airator box. Its 3 foot under water. Both air lines chewed up and power cable chewed off. It was five foot up on bank and its all dug up around there. I guess ill blame a grizzly bear for it. Totally bummed as id say its ruined. I got it out and letting it dry but id say its shot.

What do you suppose did that?
"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"
If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1) And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1) Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT? PB answer: It depends.

Im sure a dog. I just dont know what dog. I just never in my wildest dreams thought that was even possible. It was dug up all around there so id say a mouse was around and the dog was determined.

Sasquatch for sure no other possible explanation. If one could just visualize your aerator cabinet instead of the rock it would be a trail cam photo then All joking aside I am very sorry this happened to you. I am looking at aeration hopefully this coming year depending on if I decide to reshape the ponds next year or not. Either way eventually I will have one. The cost of one of the units is not something to laugh at. Hopefully it can be salvaged if you can open the motor housing or just douse the thing with contact cleaner I am sure it might help.

I was kidding about the grizzly. I was kidding about asking too! Still trying to figure out how (or why) a dog would take a relatively heavy aerator box from 5 feet up on the bank to out in the pond. I'm leaning towards DC's explanation! Edit: Any chance you have a big snapping turtle you don't know about? I am wondering if something pulled the aerator into the pond instead of threw it in.

No the lines were chewed off along with power cord. Teeth marks in cord. I know it is just terrable luck but i will be thinking of this next time. Either anchor it down or bury my line and move it away from pond.
