Pond Boss Forums AQUATIC VEGETATION Identifying plants Help!, this weed is taking over my pond

Hi all,
I used to have a real bad problem with eurasian milfoil, but now there is another weed that is taking over. This new plant just reaches the surface of the water and is shading out the eurasian milfoil, which is a good problem. But now it is really taking hold of my pond. I've looked thru many ID type websites trying to identify this plant so I know how to deal with it. I would appreciate it greatly if someone out there could see the photos and tell me what this is. Thank you all for any help. Both pictures are of the same weed.

Looks like good fish structure to me. My best "guess" is that it is Illinois pond weed but I wouldn't bet on it. How deep is it growing all the way to the surface?

It has roots in the sediment on the bottom and goes all the way to the surface. Thanks.

Bob, we are having the same problem, the milfoil is now under control but another weed has taken it's place, for us it's coontail, arrrrgggggghhh.

We are going to switch from using just Navigate to Reward & Cutrine plus, this should KO both types of weeds with one treatment.

I think I found it guys. I think it's Large-Leaf pondweed.

The other good news is that once you cut it back it does not come back the same season. Also, it is very sensitive to turbid waters. thanks guys.
