I have a green slimy moss in my pond. It is on the bottom and on top of the water. How do I get rid of it.

Mike-Your algae can be controlled with a copper based product called Cutrine. It comes in granular and liquid form. The liquid should kill both the floating and submerged algae depending on the depth of the submerged algae. If it's within 2 or 3 foot of the surface it'll die. As described on other posts here it'll most likely grow back in about 2 months. It's just the nature of the beast. How big is your pond? How much of the pond area is covered? Is there obvious nutrient rich runoff such as ag fertilizers, lawn fertilizers or livestock waste? What's the average depth of your pond? These are just a few questions you should look at before you treat your pond.

Where did you buy the granular form of cutrine plus? My local farm store only has the liquid form, and isn't interested in ordering any granulars. Is this a product most farm feed stores carry? I'd rather buy locally and not have to have it shipped to me. I am in the Dallas / Ft Worth area if if makes any diference.

Contact Kelly Duffie from this board. He works for Estes and can tell you where the closest metroplex location is and how to use the product.

Keep in mind dying algae will tend to feed the next bloom as it decays. When it gets really bad I rake it out and toss it in the compost pile.
