Just curious. Was the Minnesota winter milder this past year on lake weeds, due to lack of snow cover? Weeds I see in my pond now seem to be where they should be in August. (I've only owned my pond for 3 springs, so perhaps it cycles more than I realize) I've had others mention the same about lakes they've been fishing, thicker than normal weeds for this time of the year.

FWIW Here in sw Colorado our pond weeds got a jump on the season. Our pond thawed Jan. 15 instead of the usual Mar. 15. The water stayed cool for the next 2 months and the FA really took off. We saw the heaviest FA crop of the 6 years we have been here. Now the Elodea is starting to reach the surface of the water in spots. We haven't seen that growth other years until late in July.
We also had our rainiest May on record-more than 2 inches. "Bwa ha ha ha," many of you say. "We get that much in nearly every storm." All terrestrial plant life has responded to the rainfall. Particularly, the prickly pear cactus bloom surpasses all remembrance of the locals. I'll get some pics together.
