Pond Boss Forum. I need some knowledge about a liner pond.
In my bass project in Lewisburg WV, it looks like we might have to use a liner. If I put a liner down, how do I put all the habitat/structure/cover over it without "ripping" or putting holes in the liner? It's going to take earth moving equipment to build the ridges, points, humps, etc.... Anyone know the solutions to this problem? The pond builders in my area have used liners, but just to build bowls with no habitat.

I don't have any personal experience with a liner but I do know that it is recommend to cover the liner with 12-18" of dirt before filling. That should give you enough room to run equipment over it and not damage the liner.

I do not have any experience with a liner either but, FWIW IMHO I would think a good underlayment will also be crucial to liner survival.

Take a look at adding artificial structure, there are ways to make the bottoms smooth so not to puncture the liners. You could contact fishiding or mossback artificial structure, there is a segment on different types of DIY to add to your pond that would benefit your pond.
Do you have a layout of the pond?
In the archives theres a section on structure that many have built, maybe you get some ideas from there to put in your pond.

Josh is right. Artificial structure(PVC) will not damage the liner.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Thanks for the info. I do not want a bowl pond with just artificial cover. I want to create structure, ridges, humps, points etc...
I have decided to look for another site that doesn't require a liner
