Hey folks most of you who know me know my wife and I are building a new home this spring on our farm with our new pond layed out front of our new home.

We have been getting ideas for our home from a web site that is chalk full of great ideas and many many odd dare I say weird things.

Here is an article that I thought some may benefit from and other get an interesting read from.

Its about swimming ponds that are natural an no chemicals.

Have you done any research into costs of the natural swimming pools?

Here's the only thing that I could find:

Cost. The construction cost per square foot is the same for natural swimming pools and traditional pools. However, a natural swimming pool is typically twice the size of a traditional pool because of the regeneration zone.

I have no idea what a traditional swimming pool costs per sq. ft. I know, it'll probably vary depending on the area of the country just like a regular pond, but I was curious if you've run across any figures. A client was looking into them and said they could cost $100K.

Yes around here a normal pool would cost about 30,000 to 100,000 depending on size. After building our pond we have a natural swimming pond no pumps other then the air pump and water fall pump that is one acre and we are in at about $30,000.

Maybe in a small yard in town the price per square foot would go up because of work and little space.

Why do they call them swimming ponds when they are square like a swimming pool? They just look odd.
