bitter cold temps with high winds here in northern Indiana. As someone that loves the cold and snow I'm ecstatic! .A SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM WILL LIKELY IMPACT THE REGION BEGINNING AS EARLY AS SATURDAY EVENING AND PERSISTING THROUGH AT LEAST SUNDAY EVENING. A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE ACROSS THE AREA SATURDAY NIGHT WITH LIGHT SNOW SPREADING FROM NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST. AT THIS TIME...LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED WITH THIS FRONT. GREATER CONCERN LIES WITH LOW PRESSURE THAT WILL DEVELOP AND RAPIDLY DEEPEN AS IT TRACKS FROM ARKANSAS SUNDAY MORNING TO OHIO SUNDAY NIGHT. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 6 TO POSSIBLY AS MUCH AS 12 INCHES IS POSSIBLE BY SUNDAY NIGHT ACROSS THE WATCH AREA. IN ADDITION...GUSTY WINDS ARE EXPECTED STARTING SUNDAY...CAUSING BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AND THE POTENTIAL FOR NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY AT TIMES. AS WINDS INCREASE AND COLDER AIR ARRIVES...WIND CHILLS WILL QUICKLY DROP BELOW ZERO LATE SUNDAY AFTERNOON INTO SUNDAY NIGHT WITH VALUES OF 10 TO 20 BELOW ZERO DURING THE WATCH PERIOD. VALUES IN THE 30 TO 45 BELOW ZERO RANGE WILL BE POSSIBLE MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY. THOSE PLANNING TRAVEL THIS WEEKEND SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO ADJUST PLANS ACCORDINGLY.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

We're in the "up to 10" range down here.
"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"
If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1) And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1) Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT? PB answer: It depends.

What'd he do send it down here? My parents got the hell out of dodge today and flew to their condo in Florida.

We're in the "up to 10" range down here. You many end up with more snow than us. So far the most snow may be in central Indiana unless the storm tracks a little differently. To early to tell for sure yet. I'm hoping for bombogenesis.

What'd he do send it down here? He was just talking about it! Well, your inland down there, I'm on the lake, but inland east of here is a bit colder. Still staying inside this weekend. Might hit -5 on static, but we get wind, and along with that is chill! Supposed to be up around 35mph or so.

I am sorry I am going to miss this, we love the snow. Always glad to see some precipitation for the new pond as well. Not missing that chill though

Accuweather is now showing 12 to 16 inches where I'm at.

You that far East? I thought you're right about the line of 6-12 to 12-16? WSBT is saying 8"-10" here, then no totals from teh Lake Effect that will kick in after the system storm.
Headed out for one last chance at a deer for the season.

I am hopeful that the 12"-16" prediction is way high. I am in denial... And then comes the negative temps for highs!

Only in the 3-6 range for me but I have to drive to Chicago on Monday afternoon and hope the roads are clear. It will be bad enough dealing with the below zero temps on the drive. The up side is that I will be in Charlotte, NC for the rest of the week where the temps are 20 to 30+ degrees warmer than here. Doubt I will be get to enjoy them much.

I've always wondered when the temps are near or below zero, does your car/truck heater keep you warm or are you bundled up while driving?

Lassig, as you probably know, some areas of Chicago had 12" or so of lake effect snow earlier in the week.
My car keeps me warm even tho the temps are cold out. Even being a diesel I don't have to block off air going thru the radiator.

Headed out for one last chance at a deer for the season. Yes I'm inside that dark blue but not by much. Remember I am just east of the Kosiusko county line and not far from the Elkhart county line. Accuweather seems to have backed off of the 16 inches to 6 to 12 inches but at the same time they've enlarged the area of 6 to 12 inches. Projected qpf to snow ratio seems kind of low at 12:1 in my honest opinion considerind the temps, but we will see.

You better monitor the weather closely on Monday. If it blows like they say it will it's supposed to be life threatening to travel on Monday along with the negative zero temps. I doubt the wife will have school on Monday.

Actually Scott just north in the 'burbs they got up to 16 inches according to Skilling's Weather Blog although this NWS map shows slightly less.

We are up to 10 to 14 inches now with a wider area of coverage. Due to "insane forcing," not my words the words of a the NWS, we can expect snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour at least part of the time.

Still not snowing here, but if you look at the radar it's really, really close. Tomorrow might be an interesting day! If it's not too windy I need to drop 4 or 5 large trees (30"-40" dia.).

Not sure you'll even be able to travel on the roads tomorrow evening Scott.

On the bright side we goose hunted this morning and shot a 5 man limit in 30 minutes. Makes up for those slow days.
