I am wanting to plant and trellis grapes on the downhill portion of my dam. Would grape roots cause issues with the dam?

Grapes have very meager root systems near the surface, so I doubt they would be a problem. But boy, if you have ever tried to pull up grapes root and all... the roots have a similar span to the vines! They go, and go, and go...
