Hi. Just looking for quick suggestions on the best type of sand to install for a beach and shallow swimming area in our pond. Is there any kind that stays more firm under the water?

I once visited a public swimming beach that was covered with pea gravel. It was nicer than any sand covered, man made beach I've ever visited. Pea gravel doesn't stick to your feet, or various other body parts/cavities. And, it provides a therapeutic feel to your bare feet, which will come in handy, after having spent a truck load of money for it.

I'm going with a mixture of pea gravel and sand.

Our beach is pea gravel also. It might migrate if the slope allows it.

I don't have much slope in the "swimming area". this is the shallow area before it drops off to the deep hole.

PS. I tried giving u a picture but it says my file can't be more than 2 mb, or something. how do u guys get pics on here? can u tell I don't do this much?

Our beach runs from the grass to the pier and about 50 ft into the water (to the rope).

called the local quarry. beach or bank sand (they call it the same) is $5.70/ton. that price sound reasonable?
