Where is the best place to purchase seine's? Memphis Net and Twine?

What is the best type of seine for seining bluegill and tilapia from grow out ponds 3 to 5 times a year? If it is the knotless type, which type? as Memphis sells 5 types of knotless, Ace, Delta, Heavy Delta, 126 knotless and 420 knotless.

As for type of knotless, first you have to determine what size mesh you need. I believe that Memphis goes by square measurement, which is NOT the size that a fish can squeeze thru. Knotless do the least amount of damage to the fish, but catfish spines get tangled easily.

1/4" square = 5/16" diagonal
1/2" square = 3/4" diagonal
3/4" square = 1 1/16" diagonal
1" square = 1 5/16" diagonal.

Fish squeeze thru the diagonal size.....

Buy the largest mesh size that will do the job for you, with the least amount of net material as it will be the easiest to pull thru the water and have the least "ride up off the bottom" if you pull too fast. I'd definately go with a mud line, and possibly add extra weights on the bottom to keep the bottom of the net down where it belongs. It's very easy to pull the net too fast, making it rise up off the bottom, and allowing fish to escape beneath the net. With Tilapia, who have a tendacy to jump, a taller than usual net will help keep them in the net due to the larger bag that it forms.

The smallest #420 is 7/8" sq.

Whatever net you get, get it "dipped". That will greatly prolong the life of the net.

To me, looking at the pictures, Delta Knotless will have the least resistance going thru the water of the knotless nets.

I'd determine the smallest size fish you want to catch, and the height/width of the BOW you will be seining. Whole pond at once, or a larger BOW and just doing portions of it? Then call the net mfg. and discuss it with them.
