small pond Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 616 somerset county pa	during this last storm we got screwed not even enough rain to fully wet the ground.so now i'm ready to take drastic measures to keep my trout alive. and I was wondering if i was to build a small raceway let my spring water flow through and aerated it heavily if my trout would stay alive for the summer? Lee any possibility you could use that stream water that is heavy in hydrogen sulfide? If that is the only issue it can be blown off with aeration. I know of a fish farm in Ohio that has so much in their well it smells like a sewage treatment plant as they blow it off. Do you have the book small scale aquaculture? They are raising trout in wooden barrels in the book on a few gallons per minute I WV. If you don't have a copy I have an extra one you can have. Moving the fish to a raceway could work but it could also make things worse be moving them when their stressed. If it was me I wouldn't. Last edited by Cecil Baird1; 05/24/13 09:16 PM. If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Unfortunatly I don't have any way to pump water that far or high cause the river is about 50ft lower in elevation than the pond and 300 ft away.
