does anyone have any experince/info on placing 2 day old golden shiner fry into a bass heavy bass/bream pond in the se usa?

On a more serious note, the biggest factor will be if there is a good bloom happening when they are released. This will enable them to thrive and find food. There has been some evidence that releasing them into open water away from cover may help them survive. It seems completely opposite of how nature would intend them to be since they GSH generally lay their eggs on vegetation or algae in shallow water. Hence the fry would then be born and live in shallow water.
What are you trying to accomplish by releasing these fry into your pond?

I am trying to get more bass forage. I put threadfin shad in last spring and I have seen the small bass weights increase. A fish farm in Arkansas promotes 250000 fry/acre. I'm trying to get scientific evidence that this is a smart thing to do. 6 1/2 acre 25yo pond in ne Georgia with bass,bream,sterile grass carp and threadfin shad.

This is Jamie Anderson with Anderson Farms in Arkansas. The fry you are referring to come from our facilities. The scientific evidence you are referring to is mother nature. Golden shinners are a natural forage and repruduce naturally in all bodies of water where they are found. We take the same fry that you are to receive and stock our farm for growout for the bait market. We have been doing this for 64 years and are very confident with the process.
