I had some tilapia in a cage (NW Ohio) that I harvested this week when water temp was 47. Some of them were struggling to stay upright.

I got them from White Brook- pretty sure they are Red Nile (the light one and the others are Blues- I got the hachery choice and the were about an inch long when I stocked them the last week of May- they grew fast. I caught them with a dip net. They are swimming really slow with the water temp at 50 degrees.

Yes they did! I just wanted them to grow so I could harvest this fall. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I thought I would give it a try. I was shocked to see how small they were when I recieved them (about an inch- some less), but they grew real fast!

How many did you stock?

Are there other fish in the pond?

Did you notice any offspring from these stockers?

Sorry for the delay in response. I stocked 150, and I only got a little over 50 harvested. About 3 weeks after harvest I started having dead ones float up from the bottom- there was about 25 of them. I did have other fish in the pond, but they were newly stocked- nothing big enough to eat them when I stocked em. Not sure If i
ll do it again.

How big was your pond and how much filamentous algae did you have this summer? Did you notice extra turbidity or more cloudy water this summer?
