Heres a pic of a tilapia my granddaughter caught today. If I throw in a handful of feed in these guys will devour anything.

WOW! Nice blue... Any idea how old it is?

One more thing... You gotta love that smile on your granddaughters face... Priceless!

They were stocked in May to combat the FA, and are fairly easy to catch. My granddaughter insisted we keep this one, and a catfish that she wants her nanna to cook for lunch today. I want to get her interested in something besides TV, and video games. The smile is priceless!

That is a big fish especially for only being stocked in May. Do any of your Tilapia survive over the winter?

This is my first year having them, but I am sure they will not. My water temp reaches 45 degrees in winter, and they won't survive in water colder than 55 degrees is what I'm told. They are very prolific and would take over a pond if allowed to overwinter. There just a management tool for FA, and providing forage. We will really start harvesting them heavily in Sept.

They could also be a management "tool" for your granddaughter grin. Really great to see kids that like to fish..... You did a good job grandpa!
